Salary
The minimum and maximum monthly salary rates are shown on the job announcement. Most classifications have a six-step salary range. Employees, with satisfactory service, receive salary increases of approximately five percent the first year of service, and further increases of about five percent at one year intervals up to the maximum rate. 

Pay Day
Employees are paid on the last working day of the month

Vacation
Full-time regular employees having less than four years, earn 10 days of paid vacation; 15 days for 4 to 9 years, 18 days for 10 to 14 years, and 20 days for 15+ years of service.

Holidays
13.5 days (including 3 floating) for most employees. Sworn peace officers and communications dispatchers receive 5% holiday pay in addition to their base pay in lieu of paid holidays.

Sick Leave
15 days per year with accrual up to 2,000 hours.

Retirement
PERS integrated with social security. The County pays the entire 7% employee PERS contribution for general, confidential and management employees and 5% of 9% contribution required of employees who are sworn peace officers.

Health Plan
The County provides employee in permanent positions rated at 0.5 FTE or more with comprehensive medical, dental, life, accidental death & dismemberment insurance plans.

Life Insurance
The County provides each regular employee with a paid policy in the amount of $20,000.

Credit Union
Membership is available in the Santa Clara County Employees Credit Union.

Deferred Compensation
Two plans are available to employees.
