Lieutenant Edward A. Escamilla Lieutenant Edward A. Escamilla
began his law enforcement career as a Reserve Police Officer
with the Hollister Police Department in 1994, and currently
holds the position of Level I Reserve Officer. Lt. Escamilla
started his career in Corrections in October 1995 with the San
Benito County Sheriff's Office. Lieutenant Escamilla was
promoted to Correctional Sergeant in August 2000 and promoted to
Administrative Sergeant on October 2004. December 1, 2005 he was
promoted to the position of Lieutenant/Jail Commander.
Lieutenant Escamilla's current duties include: assisting in
organizing, directing and supervising the activities of the
Corrections Division. This position is the first management
level position responsible for the day-to-day operations/support
of the Corrections Division. The position also has
responsibility for recommending and implementing policy and
procedures; supervise, coordinates, assigns, trains, reviews,
evaluates and counsels Correctional Sergeant's, Correctional
Officers and support personnel; supervises the housing appeal
and inmate disciplinary process; assist in conducting hiring
interviews and selects candidates or participants in the
selection process of the correctional and support personnel;
conducts weekly and monthly inspections and operation review of
the jail facility including sanitation, policies and procedures;
establishes division procedures and directs compliance with
division and departmental procedures; interprets departmental
policy to Watch Commanders and others; assigns duties and
responsibilities and delineates lines of authority; provides
direction on coordination of services, policy and procedures and
budget and personnel problems; determines personnel equipment
needs and submits annual budget request; evaluates public
complaints pertaining to activities or individuals in the jail
and directs the investigation and evaluation of complaints;
performs other related duties as required.
Lt. Escamilla has completed both P.O.S.T and S.T.C. certified
training, including Management, Supervisory and Law Enforcement
courses. He is a Certified Instructor in the use of Electronic
Defense Weapons and PepperBall Tactical Systems. Lt. Escamilla
is a graduate from the 1999 South Bay Training Consortium Fire
Fighters Academy. He is currently pursuing his B.S. degree in
Criminal Justice Administration.
Lt. Escamilla was born in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico and
moved to Hollister in 1962. He attended local schools and
graduated from San Benito High School in 1978. Lt. Escamilla has
been married for 21 years and has two children. |
